My moment of change was the first day I came to the Illinois
Center for Rehabilitation and Education – Roosevelt. It was a new place and I
had to get use to the new faces and the new experiences; like the classes,
teachers and at night I had to get use to sleeping somewhere new. There were
many aspects of this facility that differed from my former schedule. I was use
to waking up at 7:00a.m. Now I have to wake up at 6:00a.m. And that one-hour
seems like a big difference. Every morning I have to take a shower, get
dressed, take care of my personal care, make my bed, eat breakfast, and take my
medicine all of this before 8:30. Before I came to ICRE-R I had help doing some
of these everyday chores. It has changed me because now I have more
responsibility.
